The award-winning Upshur Regional is located just off Brushy Fork Road at an elevation of 1,635 feet and provides a clear view in all directions with a nearly fog free airport. The airport was activated in May of 1998 when the prior landing strip at the base of the hill was closed.

The prior air strip along Brushy Fork Road was dedicated on May 23, 1943 as part of the West Virginia Wesleyan College program of pilot pre-flight training for World War II.
